System RequirementsOn this page: Supported platformsRadio Explorer is supported on all versions of Windows starting from Windows 98, and on all curently supported versions of Ubuntu Linux Desktop Edition. Although only limited support is provided for the Mac OS X operating system, Radio Explorer is reported to run with only a few possible glitches on recent versions of Mac OS X (including the latest version 10.6 Snow Leopard) with recent versions of Java software. Radio Explorer may also run on other operating systems for which Java software is available. If you run Radio Explorer on Mac OS X or on another operating system, and encounter a problem, you are encouraged to report it to support(at)radioexplorer.com.ru, as described at the Technical Support page. Java softwareRadio Explorer requires Java software version 1.4.2 or later to be installed on your machine. For some operating systems, Java software is available from more than one supplier. Java software from Sun Microsystems, Inc. is highly recommended on Windows, Linux, and on other operating systems for which it is available. If Java software from Sun Microsystems, Inc. is not available for your operating system, you can try running Radio Explorer with Java software from other suppliers. You can check whether Java software is installed on your machine, as well as find out whether the installed version is the recommended version, using the installation verification page of java.com, the consumer site for Java software. You can check whether Java software works correctly on your machine, as well as find out its version and its supplier, using the work test page of java.com. It is recommended that you keep Java software up‑to‑date on your machine. Updates provide Java software with the latest data about time zones and their daylight saving time regulations, as well as resolve possible Java software vulnerability issues. On WindowsJava software from Sun Microsystems, Inc. is available free at the download page of java.com. To update Java software, use Java Control Panel, available via Windows Control Panel. On LinuxJava software from Sun Microsystems, Inc. is available free at the download page of java.com. On Ubuntu Linux, the recommended way to install Java software is from the Ubuntu Linux software repository. This way provides better integration of Java software into Ubuntu Linux. Start the Software Sources utility from the Administration submenu of the main System menu, and enable the partner repository (in older versions of Ubuntu Linux enable the multiverse repository instead). From the Applications menu, start the Ubuntu Software Center utility (formerly named Add/Remove Applications). Install software named Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (architecture independent files) (formerly named Sun Java 6 Runtime) and Sun Java 6.0 Plugin. Go to the installation verification page of java.com, and verify that you have the recommended version of Java software installed. If it is not so, then two cases are possible. Either you have an older version of Ubuntu Linux, for which the recommended version of Java software is not available from the Ubuntu Linux software repository. Or you have the current version of Ubuntu Linux, but the recommended version of Java software for it is not yet available from the repository. In either case, uninstall the software Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (architecture independent files) and Sun Java 6.0 Plugin, and install Java software from the download page of java.com. To update Java software installed from the Ubuntu Linux software repository, use the Update Manager utility. For more information about Java software on Ubuntu Linux, please see the Java and JavaInstallation pages on the Community Ubuntu Documentation Web site. On Mac OS XJava software for Mac OS X is produced natively by Apple. Mac OS X comes with Java software installed by default. To update Java software, use the Software Update utility of Mac OS X. System configurationIf your computer can run Java software, then there are no additional system requirements, except for the minimum screen resolution, which is 1024 by 600 pixels. For system requirements of Java software from Sun Microsystems, Inc., please see java.com. For system requirements of Java software from other suppliers, please see their Web sites. | |
